Smile Makeover

Smile Makeover

A smile makeover is a treatment plan designed specifically to improve the appearance of your smile. A smile makeover itself involves the use of multiple treatments to achieve a dream smile. At Desert Mountain Dental, we offer various dental procedures to help you get a smile makeover.

What are the Common Procedures Involved in a Smile Makeover?

Cosmetic Dentistry

Veneers, implants, and other cosmetic dentistry procedures can transform your smile, making it look straight, white, and beautiful. There are plenty of choices in cosmetic dentistry procedures, so talk to your dentist about which procedures will be right for you.

Porcelain Veneers

Many cosmetic dentists use porcelain veneers to cover discolored, chipped, or cracked teeth. Porcelain is a durable material that mimics the look and feel of natural teeth. A veneer is a thin shell that dentists bond to the front of your teeth. They can change the color, shape, size, or length of your teeth.

Veneers are also commonly used to close gaps between teeth, change the shape or color of a tooth, or correct a chipped tooth.

To apply a dental veneer, your dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the surface of the tooth. Then, he will take impressions of your teeth. The impressions will be used to create your veneers.

Once the veneers are ready, the dentist will bond them to your teeth. The bonding process typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes per tooth.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a porcelain cap that covers the entire visible portion of a tooth. It is permanently cemented in place and can be made to look like the patient’s natural tooth. It covers the entire tooth, preventing anything from being stuck in the teeth.

Crowns are commonly used for teeth that are broken, discolored, cracked, or chipped. They can be used in conjunction with dental bridges or implants and are an effective way to restore teeth to the proper shape and size. In situations where a cavity is too large to fill, a crown may be required to prevent the tooth from breaking or further decay.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is the most affordable smile makeover procedure available. It is a fast and simple treatment that can typically be completed in one appointment, and the results can last for years.

Dental bonding is a procedure that only takes one appointment. The dentist will prepare the tooth, apply the bonding material, and sculpt it to match the other teeth. Anesthesia is generally not needed unless dental bonding is used to fill a decayed tooth.

Cosmetic Contouring

Cosmetic contouring is any procedure that shapes or contours the gums, teeth, or lips.

Contouring can be used to change the size or position of a tooth or to correct disproportion between the upper and lower teeth. This dental procedure can also improve the appearance of “gummy” smiles by reshaping the gums.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is just one aspect of a smile makeover. If your smile is dull and stained, teeth whitening may be the right treatment for you. During your whitening consultation, we will determine which whitening procedure is best suited to your needs.

At-home whitening: Using custom-fit whitening trays, we can whiten your smile at home.

In-office whitening: We can brighten your smile in as little as an hour.

However, there are other aspects of a smile makeover that can give you the smile of your dreams. Many patients choose to undergo a smile makeover with a combination of different procedures. During a consultation, we can talk to you about the different treatments we offer and determine which ones are right for you.
