Full Mouth Reconstruction

Full Mouth Reconstruction

Full mouth reconstruction is a way of addressing several dental issues at once. Patients with multiple problems, such as a missing tooth, several cavities, or worn teeth, may need to undergo a full mouth reconstruction. A full mouth reconstruction combines multiple treatments to address all of the patient’s issues.

What problems can full mouth reconstruction correct?

  • Missing teeth
  • Worn or cracked teeth
  • Teeth that shift out of place or rotate out of alignment
  • Misaligned jaw
  • Severe gum disease or periodontal disease
  • Facial collapse or collapse of the bite

How does full mouth reconstruction work?

Full mouth reconstruction is a process in which teeth are restored using a variety of procedures. The goal of full mouth reconstruction is to restore optimal oral function and aesthetics. Every patient’s anatomy, dental history, and condition are unique, so our treatment process is different too.

Common procedures included in a full mouth reconstruction process include the following:

  • Dental implants

Dental implants are one of the most popular, effective, and reliable options for full mouth reconstruction. Dental implants are tiny titanium posts that replace the roots of missing teeth. Dental implant posts bond with your jawbone and gum tissue, creating a stable foundation for your replacement teeth. Dental implants look, feel, and function just like natural teeth, allowing you to speak and eat with confidence.

  • Dental bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed bridge that is anchored in place by dental implants or adjacent teeth. A dental bridge is an effective way to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge is custom-created to ensure a natural and comfortable fit. A dental bridge can help restore normal chewing and speaking function.

  • Dentures (partial and complete)

Dentures are removable dental appliances that replace missing teeth. Removable partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth, while complete dentures replace an entire arch. Dentures are not permanently fixed in the mouth. They are held in place by the shape of the gums, the suction created when the wearer speaks and chews, and by denture adhesives.

  • Dental crowns

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that are put on top of broken or decayed teeth. Crowns are utilized to preserve, cover, and restore the contour of your teeth when dental fillings are not enough to solve the problem.

Treatment timeline

A full mouth reconstruction can take months or even years, depending on the individual case. The treatment process usually includes a combination of restorative and cosmetic procedures. Once the procedures have been completed, the patient will need time to heal before their next visit.

During the healing phase, patients should practice good oral hygiene, which should include daily brushing and flossing. Patients should also refrain from eating anything too hard, crunchy, or sticky.
